“We purchased a block of land at North Shores, Wallaroo, about 3 years ago with a plan to build on it in 2013. After looking around at a number of pre-designed builders, such as River Gum and Sarah Homes and visiting their display villages a few times, we decided that none of their products matched what we really wanted. With our own design ideas in mind, we investigated other builders that would build the type of house that we wanted and these company locations ranged from Goolwa to Kadina. In the end, Wahlstedt of Moonta offered the best option, as they were local, had their own framing factory and mobilisation costs would be less than the Adelaide based builders.
As we were living in Darwin prior to the build, a great deal of time, back and forth, was taken in preparing the plans for the house and Wahlstedt were extremely helpful with recommendations to achieve a final result. The contract was drawn up and we flew down to Moonta where the document was explained in detail, prior to signing. After finance was approved, the build commenced in February 2013. As we were still living in Darwin during the build, the site manager, Ian Arthur, sent us regular images of the progress and kept in touch by phone when any issues arose. Other people from Wahlstedt, including Michael Tully and Kelly Liston, were also very helpful in resolving variations to the plan and other issues.
The house was completed on schedule and after hand-over, only minor retrofit observations were recorded during the 3 month “Maintenance Period” and these were all attended to over the next month.
We are very happy with the work performed by Wahlstedt Quality Homes and would recommend them to those people who would like a unique, quality designed and built home.”

“We wish to relate our experience in choosing and building a set of two new shops at 51 George St in the main street of Moonta. We approached Wahlstedt homes because their reputation as quality builders attracted our attention. We first spoke to the planning and costing manager, Steve Jolly who enthusiastically developed a plan for the two shops which met all our needs, as well as all the necessary government and council requirements for a commercial building.
The actual building procedure was particularly sensitive, since we needed to first demolish the existing 1880’s house which abutted and adjoined a premise on either side. The construction manager for the project was Ian Arthur who became actively involved in assisting us in all our issues including the demolition, as well as the follow-up construction procedure.
We were particularly conscious and appreciative of Ian’s availability for his contribution of advice in the demolition process and his recognition of the sensitivity of the neighbours was invaluable. With Ian Arthur’s management, the construction went smoothly and safely and we appreciated his advice to us when we needed to coordinate, where necessary, with the sub-contractors.
Post construction, Ian has continued to provide assistance whenever needed with the minor post lock-up issues we encountered. In all, we have ended up with a most satisfactory building.”
